Research Collections
In addition to our education programs and exhibits, the Bean Life Science Museum is home to several research collections for use by BYU faculty and the larger academic community. If you would like more info on a particular collection, you can contact one of the curators listed on each collection tab.
Antarctic Microfauna Collection
This unique collection comprises the world’s largest repository of frozen Antarctic soil. It encapsulates millions of years of Earth’s history, offering a window into ancient and contemporary climates and ecosystems. The samples in this collection can inform us about how terrestrial ecosystems respond to climate change, guiding the development of science-based policies that are crucial for fostering and implementing our earthly stewardship.
